The Union Jack will be flying this weekend as re-
enactors come out in full dress and weaponry to
fight on the battle ground at Gibson Ranch
Regional Park.

The three day event features hundreds of Civil
War re-enactors from throughout the West
Coast who will travel to the park located at 8856
Gibson Ranch Road, in Elverta and set up
traditional 19th Century camps on the 300 acre
park grounds for the weekend festivities.

“It's really ind of an annual event out here,” said
former Congressman Doug Ose. “They portray
different periods within the civil war recreating
battles and showing what camp life was like and
stuff like that.”

He added today about 2500 students will be
arriving at the park for an educational experience
and they will have six different camp settings
that the kids get exposed to.
History comes
alive in Elverta
“On Saturday at 9:30 a.m.
and at 1:30 p.m., we  have
re-enactment battles where
we actually have gunfire and
canon fire and cavalry
charges,” he said “It's pretty
cool. And then we do it
again on Sunday.”

In between the battles, the
public has the chance to
see how soldiers lived
during the civil war
years.

For Ose the event is very
interesting and he has
been involved with it for
two years.

Being a fan of the Toy Story
series of animated movies,  I
arrived at Power Balance
Pavilion here in Sacramento, on
Wednesday night for Feld
Entertainment's production of
Disney on Ice Toy Story 3 with
mixed feelings.

First off, would the costumes do
the story justice and secondly,
would the overall presentation of
the characters mimic what I had
seen in the films? Those were
my biggest pressing questions as
I entered a very crowded lobby
teaming with children and adults
of all ages.
For the first part of my
magical journey, I found
myself maneuvering my way
through the crowds who had
stopped by the Disney
vendors selling all things Toy
Story. I couldn't help but hear
